Introducing three new Patek Philippe Aquanauts – including the Flyback Chronograph and the Aquanaut Luce, both in rose gold The Aquanaut Flyback Chronograph is finished in rose gold, and Patek Philippe brings the annual calendar to the Aquanaut for the first time. This year is the year of rose gold for Aquanaut. Patek Philippe has launched three new models for the Aquanaut, all in rose gold: the Aquanaut Luce Annual Calendar, the Aquanaut Chronograph, and the Aquanaut with a bezel set with 48 diamonds.

First up is the Aquanaut Chronograph 5968R of the series. Here, the rose gold case measures 42.2mm x 11.9mm, and the composite brown strap complements the brown dial. The 5968R takes the familiar form of the Aquanaut chronograph and presents it in rose gold.

This means the 42mm case has a water resistance of 120 meters, and the brown dial has a sunburst effect that ends with a black rim around the dial edge. Through the sapphire case back, you can see Patek Philippe's self-winding flyback chronograph CH 28-520 C. It powers the central chronograph hand and Aquanaut’s signature 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock. This is a column wheel movement with a vertical disc clutch. The suggested retail price is CHF 64,000.

Patek Philippe has added a new Aquanaut Luce reference 5261R, which is a few millimeters smaller. It's an annual calendar - a complete calendar of days, days and months with just one manual correction (at the end of February).

The rose gold case measures 39.9mm x 10.9mm thick and is fitted with the famous Aquanaut composite strap, the blue-gray color of which complements the dial. Notably, Patek Philippe introduced a new movement, the 26-330 S QA LU, in the 5261R. It's based on the 26-330 SC Patek introduced in 2019 (and used in the previous generation 5711 and this year's 6007G among others).

In addition to the 5261R, Patek Philippe has added the 5268/200R to its Aquanaut collection – a 38.8mm Aquanaut with a bezel set with 38 diamonds.

This means the 42mm case has a water resistance of 120 meters, and the brown dial has a sunburst effect that ends with a black rim around the dial edge.

Since Patek Philippe introduced a steel Aquanaut flyback chronograph like the 5968A in 2018, we can assume it will come to rose gold, and it might look a bit like the 5968R we see now. It has the brown dial we've seen in other rose gold Patek Philippe watches (hello, 5167R), and the matching brown strap is a delightful chocolate bar. It joins the steel 5968A and a pair of white gold 5968G models as Patek Philippe continues to flesh out its collection of Aquanaut chronographs.

While we may know that something like the 5968R is coming eventually, I'm not sure many people were expecting the Aquanaut Luce, which I think makes it even better. It comes in a 40mm Aquanaut case, which Patek Philippe calls the Ladies Collection.

After adding the Travel Time 5269R and the “Rainbow” chronograph 5968R over the past few years, Patek Philippe has now added a sportier, non-jeweled watch to its smaller Aquanauts collection. I might just love it.

Patek Philippe only introduced the annual calendar in the 1990s as a practical (and cheaper) alternative to more complicated calendars, so it was a natural fit for the smaller Aquanaut. The dial is not the brown of the chronograph, but a soft blue-gray, and the whole dial is monotonous. There is a composite strap to go with it. Patek Philippe places the moon phase below 12 o'clock, the month and day of the week at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock respectively.
